Some private thoughts of breeding and breeders

2014-11-28 I'm really disappointed and sad! I doubt if it's worth to continue!
More than 10 years ago I've started this database to support Maltese breeders worldwide. But where is the border between breeder and reproducer? (see also at my links list 'What is a breeder?')
What happened? This week I've found a FCI-'breeder' in an European country with
  • more than 750 puppies in 12 years and
  • one male with 270 offsprings and
  • one pairing with seven(!) repetitions and
  • on top an additional breed with some hundreds puppies within the same timeframe!
I know there're reproducers and they will be there for always BUT within FCI?
2014-09-25 In German there's a saying: Es gibt nichts, was es nicht gibt! (There's nothing what doesn't exist!)
Another European country but also a FCI registered breeder with 11 different breeds like
  • Bichon A Poil Frisée
  • Bouledogue Français
  • Cavalier King Charles Spaniel
  • Chien De Berger Belge
  • Dalmatian
  • English Cocker Spaniel
  • Italian Corso Dog
  • Maltese
  • West Highland White Terrier
  • Yorkshire Terrier
I know there're professionals out there but I'm asking myself how is it possible to breed under e.g. ethic rules for 11 breeds in parallel? In my private understanding a couple could manage two different breeds but how many individuals should there be to handle more than 10 breeds?
2014-09-21 And I said to myself: what a wonderful world!
No, I didn't say so! In fact I got annoyed! Why? I've found an imported stud dog from a FCI breeder in an European country and more than 400, in words: four hundred, registered puppies out of him!
That took about 6 years and 110 matings which means a mating every 3 weeks during this time period!
BTW another breeder but same country and also FCI registered has (had?) one stud dog with about 260 puppies in 7 years and another dog with also more than 200 hundred puppies during 9 years!
2014-03-15 I even don't know the English word for the German: Wurfwiederholung! Is it mating repeat or pairing repetition?
I mean another mating with the same parents.
In my private understanding of breeding there's only one reason to repeat a mating when I want to get i.e. a male and there're only females or vice versa! An additional reason may be by accident!
But what I've found sometimes is producing NOT breeding to my understanding! Why should there be a need to repeat a mating 5 or even 6 times from a breeding point of view?
